Catcher Brian McCann slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Masahiro Tanaka
racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts as the New York (AL) Yankees
topped the Washington Nationals by a score of 6 to 3 at Yankee Stadium.

The New York (AL) fans enjoyed the offense provided by McCann. He blasted a
solo shot in the 2nd inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in
the 7th inning. New York (AL) totaled 7 hits on the night.

Tanaka(6-4) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Max
Scherzer(6-4) suffered the loss. He allowed 4 homeruns in 6 and 1/3 innings
of work.

The New York (AL) fans were thrilled by the performance put forth by Tanaka,
but it was clearly his strikeouts that they enjoyed most. 'When he reached 10
strikeouts the fans showed him their appreciation with a loud cheer.' Joe
Girardi said following the game.
